About The Artist - (Gaia Orion : Spiritual Artist)
Gaia explores healing and spiritual art themes that manifest in symbolic and archetypal images in her artwork. These images arise from her quest to understand life and her interest in ancient and sacred art.
With her creativity she has found her way of sharing with the world and connecting deeply with people.
Focusing on living a simple and healthy life allows Gaia the time and space to be sensitive and express the inspiration that arises.
Gaia originally hails from Paris, France, where she studied and graduated with honour as an architect from Ecole des Beaux Arts in 1997. Gaia, along with her husband and three young children, reside north of Toronto (Ontario, Canada) by a river in the bush!
Gaia’s spiritual art is available in the form of greeting cards, matted prints, framed prints and art medallion jewelry.
Gaia’s original artwork is reduced and the images are transferred on brass, silver or stone medallions. With these ‘art medallions’ she creates an array of unique necklaces and earrings.
This winter I have been working on large canvas with acrylic paint and I find this new format exciting as it brings another dimension to the art. Some are new creations and others are previous themes that I want to rework. The acrylic is full and vibrant and I love this new direction that my art is embracing.

Our Journey
When I was a kid there was an old lithography at my grandparent’s castle in the washroom. It was about life and its different stages. Steps were going up to the age of 50 - Age Of Maturity it said – and then the steps were going down to the Age Of Decay (90 years old). A couple was shown on the steps at various stages of their life cycle and at the end the old couple, at 100 year old were lying in bed in the Age of Infancy and Imbecility! A Last Judgment picture was right in the center depicting in detail heaven and hell with details … Looking at this picture growing up was amusing but also daunting. I thought that there must be a different way to see this life journey.
Today I see life as seasons passing and returning. There are stages of maturity and gaining wisdom along the way; though a 100 year old can feel like a child at heart and the natural wisdom of a child is pure and powerful like the old sage. The natural slowing down of the body as we age gives us opportunity to slow down in our activities and have more time for reflection. Just like winter is telling us to rest and look inward every year. When one lives in tune with nature life is a cycle following the seasons.
Where does it really start? When does it end? When the caterpillar ‘dies’, it has no idea that it is initiating the birth of a beautiful butterfly.
“I Have A Dream’’
This image came to me very strongly when I stayed up late to listen to Barak Obama’s speech on election night. Seeing this man triumph - the personal, social, and political challenges he overcame and what it represented historically - brought much hope.
So often I’ve felt very gloomy about humanity’s fate, the pervasive confusion and destruction. This event showed that things can change very quickly… and that we all have the opportunity to build a flourishing society with integrity at its core.
Raven Call
There’s a full moon and the wild woman is wide awake. Everything is silent except for the raven call to which she is alert, sensitive, open, primal, in touch...Something in me feels ‘the call’ for the time when we lived in the wild, feeling a deep connection, awakened in all our senses; with a mind that exists only in the moment, with a spirit fully alive.
Moon Ritual
I had two images that came together for this painting. One is a Chi-Gong movement when we are ‘holding the moon’ above; the other is the image of ‘people in trees’ that I always see. I especially like to observe trees when laying down on the leaves in the bush. Then they really come alive!
This is a moon ritual. Women-trees are meeting on the full moon to celebrate life. This image is also like the reflection of the moon in the deep water that takes one deeply into oneself.
The rainbow around the scene is like the slices of the tree trunk with its rings… a reminder of the passing seasons and time.
Mother Nature - Sand Mandala
A group of women gathered in France on Women’s day March 8 to celebrate and commemorate all women, especially the many women (called witches!) that were killed during the Dark Ages. Below is the magnificient sand mandala they created for this occasion using my Mother Nature image.
